Time: approximately 2 to 3 weeks
Objectives (and procedures)
- Each student will identify five values on a monochromatic tint scale.
- Each student will identify five value changes on a monochromatic, shade scale.
- Each student will construct scales with primary, secondary, intermediate and neutral colors.
- Students will design a portrait painting utilizing five value changes and a color scheme. (Three week project.)
- Students will locate a photograph that can be used for their subject matter.
- Students will distinguish 5 light to dark values in their portraits.
- Students will paint their portraits utilizing their color choice in a Monochromatic or color scheme Value Scale. (One week)
- Students will make critical judgments towards one another’s art pieces, critiquing and evaluating each piece.
